For a social studies assignment we had the opportunity to talk about an after school program that we could offer. While brainstorming I thought about the salmon run and how classes have salmon fry in their class to grow and put back into the water when ready. I really enjoyed this idea, so I looked at School District 27s Place-based learning articles and fell upon the idea of migratory bird study. I loved this idea, from someone who comes from a town with lots of environmental, forestry jobs, I have seen there are jobs many students may not think about. Thats why I chose to research the migratory bird study through Amigo Alados program, this is a great learning and teaching opportunity for any grade level. It allows a space to learn and connect with our environment, birds and other students.
