Something that is a big part of my life is sports and one of the things I remember most from elementary schools is the various school sport coaches who have shaped my life. This is a picture from the 2024 women’s soccer season in Williams Lake when we won first! I enjoy playing in this league as it’s a great way to stay active after a long day. I look forward to getting the opportunity to help coach school teams!

This is a picture from my first practicum class at RLC elementary school in Kamloops, BC. Every student in the class coloured and wrote about a way they can grow their mindsets. I value the learning and teaching of growth mindset, we can see a lot of struggles when developing a positive growth mindset, especially if the environment is not right. Encouraging a growth mindset in children is important as it helps children believe in their abilities and that they can face challenges and embrace change or difficulties.

This is one of my favourite pictures from Halloween Day at Day Camp. Through this job we had to create daily plans to fit a week theme, this week was Holiday Week. For this activity, all the children got to wrap a leader like a mummy, I loved this activity as no matter who was in the group they all worked together to try and win. It was a great learning opportunity for the kids to show that sometimes things go smoother when working together instead of doing it alone.

This is a craft I got to help with in a grade ½ class this past Christmas. This craft was a great learning opportunity as it showed me not all crafts will run smoothly, to always have a backup idea, and have work for students to do when finished early or waiting for glue

These are photos from my last year of minor hockey in Williams Lake. In the top photo, I had the privilege of mentoring during World Girls Hockey Day, an event where girls of all ages were invited to come out, learn, and enjoy the game of hockey. In the bottom photo, my female rep team hosted a special game with some Atom league girls, where Santa surprised everyone with a fun hockey match and some treats. This experience allowed me to practice leading and guiding others, which is an essential teaching skill. It helped me connect with children and the community, both of which are essential in a learning environment.
